CotP Immersion Thread
For all my friends who have read Crossing of the Paths, the purpose of this thread is to provide a deeper immersion into the story via images, music, and personal contact.

I'd like to start off with some screenshots from my modded copy of Homeworld 2.

For those who havn't played it, HW2 is a spacew RTS game that is played in 3 Dimensions. I have done some customization, including color sets and emblems to make the ships in game look quite similar to Darkest and Lightest's ships. Take a look at these screenshots;

The emblems on Darkest's ships were from a fanart piece found on google, watermarked as by D'Ragon. The original fanart piece is here: usera.imagecave.com/MMM_A...mewtwo.jpg

And also, I'd like to share the titles of songs that inspired both books of CotP.

Harvest Moon by Blue Oyster Cult
This song is what inspired Mewtwo’s nightmare near the end of book 2, the dream with Marcus and the giant spiders. It has one of the best guitar solos I’ve ever heard.

Veteran of the Psychic Wars by Blue Oyster Cult
I think it’s obvious what this one inspired. I listened to it long before even starting CotP, and it is a big part of what inspired me to write a titanic psychic war between Darkest and Lightest.

Flying Condor by Cusco
This song epitomizes the utter beauty of flight, and it inspired the flying scene in CotP and the one in Legacies.

Fundamentum by Lesiem
It’s an all male choir singing in Latin, and it has a distinct battle feeling. It inspired the Siege of Hyrule in Book 2.

Heroism/Caves of Gno from the Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun OST
This song starts out feeling like the majestic depths of space and then plunges into a deep techno rhythm that is perfect for visualizing massive space fleet battles. It inspired several of the space battles in CotP.

Goodbye Blue Sky by Pink Floyd
This one’s a classic. It inspired the character of Darkest and his unending lust for death and destruction.

Yet Another Movie by Pink Floyd
This one inspired the emotional torture session that Flametongue put Mewtwo through at the end of Book 1. I think I was stupid enough to quote this song in the original unedited version of CotP.

San Rocco by Tangerine Dream
This is serious heavy techno, and it made me visualize the inner workings and appearance of one of Darkest’s Capital ships. It’s going to be featured in an up-coming UT2K4 Map that is going to feature the inner hallways of Darkest’s ship “The Annihilation”.

Eagle’s Path by David Lanz and Paul Speer
Yet another song about the majesties of flight. Same story as Flying Condor.

Night Wind by David Arkenstone
This one is what inspired the final scene of the entire story where Mewtwo flies off into the night with Mew to find happiness.

August Moon by Waterbone
This song inspired the Vile Desert and the lonely lives of intense sisterhood that the Gerudos lived. It is perfect for visualizing the small, remote Gerudo villages.

Tantra II by Waterbone
This song inspired the age-old Deku Forest in Book 1 and Mewtwo’s experience walking amongst the massive, thousand year old trees.

In the Lap of the Gods by The Alan Parsons Project
This song epitomizes the last two chapters of Book I, including Mewtwo’s imprisonment in the Tower, and then a simply astounding symphonic section that is so incrededibly dramatic that it works perfectly with the titanic psychic final battle between Darkest and Lightest at the end of the Book.

Hyper-Gamma-Spaces by The Alan Parsons Project
This song inspired the swirling beauty of the interdimensional tunnels, both the one that Mewtwo traveled through at the start of the story and the one that Lightest’s fleet raced through to reach Hyrule.

Dust and Echoes from the Halo OST
This one’s solemn chanting not only reminds most people of the Halo Game series, but it makes me think about the end of Book 1 in CotP when Darkest’s tower crumbles to the ground and a new life of possibilities opens up to the Gerudos.

I know it’s nothing like sharing the songs themselves, but I doubt I could find a hosting site that would share this many MP3’s for free, since I am flat broke. Besides, most of there are easy to find on and P2P network. I would highly recommend Limewire.

For anyone here at the temple who doesn’t have a DeviantArt account, you can also look through mine here: mmm-aj.deviantart.com/ to find some illustrations for CotP that I’ve done myself.

I’d also like to open here for ANY and ALL questions and discussion regarding the story, including serious suggestions for improvement. I am considering setting up one of those YIM or MSN conferences for fans of the story to attend and talk about it.
