Interview from renegaderadio.net
Interview by Becca This will be on the site soon.

1) How long have you been in the music industry? Have you always wanted to be in a band or did you want to be something different when you were younger?? (fireman, policeman)
.

Well, I'd say going on 4 years with BLAZED, but only a year with it's current incarnation. My friend and original drummer Kris Dalene died in a car accident on the way home from a gig two years after we started and then we took a year off. So all told, minus my year of mourning it's a bout 3 years, I guess.

I have always been split with the whole career thing. Music isn't the only thing I want to do and it's never the only thing I'm doing. I'm actually really excited right now, because I'm working with Axel Alonso who is one of Marvel Comics top editors. I've been trying to break into the comic industry as a writer for a few years now and I finally have my foot in the door at the biggest comics publisher, so I'm pretty stoked about that. Plus, still doing my hosting stuff. I've done MTV2, Fuse, HBOZone and now AOL's Top 11 Countdown. And I play Semi-Pro Football for the Brooklyn Mariners, maybe that's one. When I was in middle school I think I really wanted to be a professional football player. So, there's your answer I guess.

2) Do you play any instruments other than that awesome voice?

I used to play the recorder, but I forgot how a long time ago.

No, I don't play any instruments, the only one I was ever interested in was the drums and you can't really sing and drum, I know there are people who do it, but I can't play a rock show sitting down.

It's funny, cause when I write guitar parts I have to sing the notes slowly and have my guys figure it out, when people first start working with me, they are definitely a bit unnerved by the process. You gotta have a good ear.

3) Do you find it harder or easier to break into the music business after being part of the industry already? (VH1, AOL, etc)

Well, you know what considering, I still really haven't broken in, or at least not in any significant way, as far as I'm concerned, I'd say it doesn't matter. Once I do break in I think it will be a bit easier considering I already have relationships with a lot of the people that I'll run into with the band. That's helpful. But pretty much everyone I work with are the people who are there after you've made it, not the people who decide if you make it or not.

4) How long did it take you to find the RIGHT band members for BLAZED? Where did you find them or did they find you?

I just got a new bass player a month ago, so who knows if it's the final line up now. I'm mean I'm pretty sure about my drummer. But guitar players can be flakey. I hope I have the line up now, but you never know.

At the end of the day it's my band, which means I have to find the people I want in it. It's never as easy as them finding you. Each member is a long story in themselves and they aren't particularly entertaining stories, so I won't bother telling them. But let's say that it has been a long and interesting process of elimination.

5) Where was BLAZED's first show? Was it what you had hoped for?

My first show ever was at the Downtown on Long Island with Dee Snider's SMFs. It was actually my first show ever. I had never felt like my previous bands were good enough to stand up to the scrutiny, so I never played out. I'd say it went pretty well. It's not really a control thing. I had a lot of people coming up to me after the show surprised to hear that it was my first show, which I guess is a compliment. I barely remember it now, but it was reviewed by some website and I got a favorable review, so that's cool.

6) What was your most memorable experience so far?

Well, after we played Penn's Peak in Pennsylvania we were out in the crowd selling our new CD and talking to people, my fiancee and I headed backstage. Standing in the middle of the hallway leading backstage was this totally naked girl, who turned around and began to offer herself TO MY FIANCEE, my elementary school teaching fiancee is being offered lesbian sex right in front of me and the look on her face was just priceless. I'm sure the look on my face was similar when the naked girl began offering ME MONEY for a night with my lady. THAT is the most memorable moment.

7) Does BLAZED write as a collaborative or do you have one member that writes the music and then one that writes the vocals?

Pretty much all songs begin with me. I write the song and then I figure out the chords and hum a guitar hook or two with the guitar player and then we arrange the song as a band. Sometimes, if my guitar player brings in a guitar part that I like, we'll make a song out of it. I write all the lyrics though. So, blame me if you like 'em or if you don't.

8) What are your expectations for BLAZED, where do you see BLAZED in 3 years?

I see BLAZED as the next movement of rock n roll. I think people are tired of all this whiny self indulgent bullcrap. I think that people want rock n roll to take back the Rolling Stone covers from the pop stars and I think if anyone's gonna do it, it'll be us. I don't really see many others even trying. Rock has become second to every style of music out there and while the emo and goth kids are being silently moody and emotional, the fucking pop stars are walking all over us. We need rockstars just as tough and larger than life as 50 Cent and the Game. Rock needs to be the otherside of that and it's not. I'm ready to step up and take it back, I don't see anyone else even trying.

9) Ever been mistaken as a LaBare's dancer? *big smile* (sorry couldn't resist that one, can't blame a girl for dreamin)

No but recently, I've been getting a lot of people saying I look like Edge or Chris Jericho the wrestlers, which is cool, cause I've been working my ass off in the gym for a while now, it's nice to hear it's paying off.

10) Are there any Texas dates in your future?? Texas needs a jolt and I think BLAZED could be the band to give us that JOLT!

No. Unfortunately we still aren't there yet. But we are going to get there. Just hold tight. If we have to come to the state by way of Europe we will. Whatever it takes, I'll never give up. BLAZED is coming.
