Re: mewtwo's age?
From my knowledge, Mewtwo-sama's official birthday is February 6, 1998, so that means that he is 6 years old, and he will be 7 next year.
In terms of cat years, he's 42 now, and will be 49 in February. Old 'two is getting up there in years! That's probably why he has such a deep voice.
When he's 8 he'll be 56, when he's 9 he'll be 63, when he's 10 he'll be 70. . . . . Yep, Mewtwo-sama's living in cat years,not IAMS years.
Not to scare you guys or anything, but my cat, Porschia (no, I didn't name her after the car ), died when she was 8 or 9, but then again she had heart problems and died of a massive heart attack. Considering that Mewtwo-sama is (1) extremely healthy and (2) genetically enhanced, he should live far, far longer than the average cat lifespan of 10-13 years.

Re: mewtwo's age?
My old cat lived to be 22 sooo, just goes to show ya can't generalise ages in animals! =3
Re: mewtwo's age?
Sorry, gg...just a comment...cats actually live to an average of 14 to 16 years...but who says Mewtwo's just a cat?
Not only that, but do we know how they age?
One last note...in English we had to take notes on a speech (that just happened to be on cloning and Dolly the sheep, etc) and it was discovered that the clone's cells are actually as old as the animate being it was cloned from...
Technically meaning that Mewtwo (biologically speaking) is as old as Mew...

He's only a few years old.. outside of the tube. Don't forget the movie about baby Mewtwo and Ai, he's an adult. ^^

Re: mewtwo's age?
Well, your cat IS an extreme exeption, 22 is very very old, like a human living to be 120. You might want to look up the guiness record of a cat's age!
Anyway, Mewtwo-sama has the genes of an ancient race, genes which have been altered for the better. Which means if a Mew can live roughly 500 years or 500+ (that's what I heard once) then maybe, just maybe Mewtwo-sama can live 1,000 years, or longer! Maybe he's immortal.

With regards to all opinions about the age of Mewtwo-sama, and without further ado, I present my own little theory and reason.
Mewtwo's age would be indeed related to the span of the feline family, in regards to longetivity and the relation to the span of age in human years. But Mewtwo isnt completely feline. Other specie lifespans should be brought into consideration, and Mewtwo-sama's age-span adjusted accordingly. For example: Mewtwo's appearance (and physical prowess) has been likened to that of a kangaroo in certain fictions. Therefore, take into consideration the average lifespan of a healthy kangaroo buck. A few kangaroos have been known to reach an age of 20 years. But, the average lifespan of a kangaroo is about 7 years. So, You'd take the feline-human age ratio of 6.2:1 and take off a few years.
The Mewtwo-Human age ratio would then be approximately 4.5:1. Assuming that Mewtwo is 6 years old from February of 1998, then Mewtwo-sama would be approximately 27 years of age. Now, taking in consideration the fact that the clone is only as young as its sire is old, and assuming Mew's fossil dated in the thousands, One can assume that Mewtwo's approximate age is in the thousands, possibly even edging on the border of immortality.
Therefore, all this speculation sums up to only one possible conclusion:
I dont really care how old he is, i love him anyway X3

Re: mewtwo's age?
That thesis sounds fairly plausible. The ratio, and longetivity all taken into careful consideration. And I agree with your opinion that since the clone is the age of the sire and Mew is very old, that would make Mewtwo's age similar. However the mew fossil Mewtwo was cloned from, obviously that mew had to be dead before the fossilisation took place. This means that particular mew could have been any age when it died so we're kinda back to square one on that aspect. ^^;
Oh BTW I do agree with the conclusion though! XD I just thought I'd add my two cents so to speak. O.o
That little mew could have been anywhere from age 1 to age 100000000. The world may never know :O!
Also another little tidbit to mention. Someone else brought up the Baby Mewtwo bit, and that's something I forgot about :O which means that little 6 year thing, he might be more along the lines of 10 or 12, even. Making him back where we started, at 40-something XD!!

Re: mewtwo's age?
Hmm, somehow I don't think he's quite 40 yet. Even with the mathematical calculations and various prognosis' we've had I'm more inclined to say he's around 20, and ages as fast as a human or slower. That's always been my opinion anyway. ^^
Re: mewtwo's age?
wasn't it said in the show one time that Mews are immortal?
well, back to the age discussion. He was in the tube for at least six years, and he's been out for six, i think. So, judging from what i know of this, my guess is that he is somewhere around 12 years old. but then again, his voice is that of an adult, so one can't really be sure...

Don't forget people, that you're trying to guess an age of a fictional character in a fictional world. And with Mew being immortal, the creator of Pokemon can have his creatures live as long as he wants too. No living thing is immortal in the real world.
Re: mewtwo's age?
Yeah come on now, what makes life beautiful is death. The only reason you admire the spring flowers is because they only live during spring.

That is true, their beauty might lose the impact if they were around all the time, and not just in flowers but in other things as well, you take them for granted if they're around for so long I suppose.
Re: mewtwo's age?
My friend told me he was around fourteen, i'm not all that sure, but I can try and figure it out.
I thought he was going to be imortal. ANd even if he is imortal, doesn't mean he's going to show alot, so it's still appreciated. Kinda like a very rare kind of flower that can bloom all year.
Re: mewtwo's age?
Maybe no one knows how old he truely is? He could age fairly diffrently than our human minds can think. He might have an erratic aging pattern that can be 5 years to 1 human year, to 100 years to 1 human year. The world will never know, unless they decide to tell us...
Re: mewtwo's age?
I'm going by only the show and movie in this case. Giovanni and his persian remain unchanged from talking to Mewtwo at New Island to the incident of Mewtwo Returns. Mewtwo made one cameo in the show against Gary Oak. He was clad in the armor then.
Pokemon do age, there was an episode where there was a 20 year old pikachu, and that pikachu looked really OLD. I think they mention the average lifespan of pikachus in that episode, but the idea is that 20 is an extreme age for a pikachu as 20 is for a kangaroo that usually lives to 7.
Persians can't possibly live so much longer than pikachus that lifespan is irrelevant, I'd say no more than twice the average pikachu lifespan. For Giovanni's persian to remain the same, a short amount of time must have past, well within 10, even 5 years. Giovanni looked the same as well, but a man at 30 doesn't look much different than at 35.
Gary spoke with Ash, who was identical to his appearance in the movie. Ash we know is 12/13, and if he didn't change between Mewtwo in captivity and Mewtwo as tyrant, then that period must have been short.
By this reasoning, Mewtwo most likely was only with Giovanni for 6 months to a year. Recall how refined Mewtwo was against Gary. If this encounter happened early in his time with Team Rocket, that time was only months. If late in his time with TR, it could possibly be half a year, considering Mewtwo is supposed to master combat, consequently being able to master his own powers in a short amount of time.
Now for figuring out how long Mewtwo was in that tube. He rapidly aged, the lab and scientist teams exactly the same when Mewtwo was little and grown. The coordinated clones were unstable, they couln't have possibly existed a substantional amount of time, no more than 6 months because their genetics broke down too easily. Clones are the age of their sires, so it's likely those clones were younger than they looked.
Did Mewtwo age artificially or in "catching up" to his sire's age? The Mew he's from has long been dead, fossils aren't made overnight. If that fossil took the average time for most fossils to mature, then it means Mew has remained unchanged for what could be 1,000 or 10,000 or 100,000 or even a million years. Mew is a highly evolved creature then, that it cannot improve anymore over such a time period.
Biologists here will see what I'm getting at. There is a direct correlation of evolutionary advancement and lifespan. Insects don't live more than a season, while mammals live for years, while those with developed brains like dolphins and humans always live beyond 20 years. 1,000 years brought humans from sitting in their own shit to our Einsteins and Antantaru today. 500 years ago was when Incans held power, the civilization ruins that Dr. Fuji seemed to find the fossil in. I'm unsure if a fossil can occur in 500 years. 500 years is enough time to alter breeds of animals, not enough for species change. If 500 can do nothing for Mew, Mew therefore should be so highly evolved it doesn't need to rapidly generate to evolve, thus can live so much more than reproductive age. Mew's head is bigger than it's body, where brain-body ration expresses intellect.
Was that sire Mew dead or the same one we see in the movie? If the same, you're looking at one damn long lifespan that Mewtwo will rapidly age to. If not, we have no hint to how long it lived. I'm no forensicist, but a Mew dying among men that revered it seems a bit fishy. Maybe the Mew didn't die, but where did it go if it's not the same one we see?
In terms of Mewtwo as an individual, I say he lived less than 5 years from conception to wherever he decided to shack up. Judging from my notes above, let's figure he's 5 at the time he hits his clone's age. Assuming the sire Mew was middle-aged, it was 500 years old at the time. Since Mewtwo doesn't age anymore, he's reached his sire's biological clock of 1000. Therefore, he'll live a total of 500 years. 7 down, 493 to go. For human relation, Mewtwo would seem like a 37 year old.
I know, if you really check my math, there's alot of calculations I had to leave out because the amount of variables is too great for me to figure out in a day. I would like to know the following from you:
How fast does a clone age to match its sire? I've seen sources say that Dolly's telomeres were 20% degraded already, but that would mean Mewtwo must live 400 years to be biologically 500, which is too long a time for us. So is the rate of aging variable?
What is the time for a hair fossil to develop?
Again, there's a great deal of calculation and research needed. I had to guesswork from location, our cloning technology, and whatever the show revealed. I wouldn't say this speculation is a hopeless endeavor. It might give us insight as to how cloning and evolution work in general.
