One of the issues Griffin/Ebert deals with in the Marketing area is utility. First of all, utiliy is the ability of a product to satisfy a human want or need. To better understand this definition let us have a look on the four kinds of utility which marketing strives to. Firstly, time utility which means that products are available when customers want them. Secondly, place utility provides the customers with the products where they can conveniently purchase them. Furthermore, ownership utility is provided by the convenient transfer of ownership from store to customer. Finally, by turning raw materials into finished products the customer experiences form utility. To conclude we can say, that marketing plays an important role in all four areas.

Solide strukturiert und geschrieben.
1) "let us have a look" ist grammatikalisch völlig ok. In dem Fall wäre "it is important to have a look at" geeigneter.

2) "Nach etwas streben" ist "strive for". "Strive to" verwendet man dann, wenn nach dem "to" ein Zeitwort (Infinitiv) folgt.

3) "Firstly, time utility, which means that products are available when customers want them"
Man kann ihn vermeiden, in dem man Phrasen wie "... there is the issue of..."/ "...there is the example of..." einbaut (z.B. "Firstly, there is the issue of time utility";) . Da es hier um den Nutzen geht, den ein Produkt beisteuert, passt "Firstly, a product should offer time utility" genauer.

4) "Finally, by turning raw materials into finished products the customer experiences" In dieser Form bedeutet das, dass der Kunde die Rohstoffe in Fertigerzeugnisse transformiert. Richtig ist "Finally, by turning raw materials into finished products, the company allows the customer to experience..."

According to Griffin/Ebert the term utility is split up into four kinds, namely time, place, ownership and form utility. First of all, the author explains what is ment by utility. To put that in other words, utility is the ability of a product to satisfy a human want or need. As mentioned before, there are four kinds of utility at which the author will take a look at now. Firstly, time utility refers to the availability of products when consumers want them. Secondly, place utility makes products available where consumers can easily purchase them. Furthermore, a product provides ownership utility by conveniently transferring ownership from store to customer. Fourthly, as it is possible to turn raw materials into finished goods, the latter one creates form utility.

Elegant geschrieben.
1) "the term utility is" Der Begriff, der durch "the term" bezeichnet wird, sollte irgendie vom Resttext abgegrenzt werden (z.B. the term "utility" oder the term 'utility')

"The author feels that...", "In the author's opinion,...";) . Bei "First of all, the author explains what is meant by utility." ist eher report/paper geeignet. Ausserdem sollten solche Ankündigungen im Regelfall in Zukunftsform erfolgen, d.h. "First of all, the report will explain what is meant by utility."

3) "at which X will now take a look" ist eine außerordentlich elegante Formulierung. Aber Vorsicht bei der Reihenfolge (d.h."at which the author will take a look at now" ist falsch gereiht).

According to Griffin/Ebert there are four types of utility that you have to consider to create a product's value. Specifically, these kinds are time, place, ownership and form utility.
First of all, the author explains the term utility. In particular, it is a product's ability to satisfy a human want.
As mentioned above, time is a form of utility. In this context it is important to know that the products should be available when consumers want them. Furthermore, place, which means that you should make products available where consumers want them, is another type of utility. You should not neglect ownership utility, where you have to consider that you have to allow consumers to own products. In closing, I would like to mention form utility which contributes to the product's value too. In detail, this is the process of turning raw materials into goods or performing services.

Ausgezeichnet.
1) Das "you" ist schon ok. Allerdings ist es bei dem Englisch-Niveau für Stil-Perfektionszwecke einfach professioneller, "the company" statt "you" zu verwenden
2) "Time" ist nicht automatisch ein Nutzen, sondern "Time utility". Achtung bei Abkürzungen.

Guter Einsatz.
1) "According to Griffin/Ebert there are four types of utility mentioned, namely time, place, ownership and form."
Bei der Formulierung "According to..." muss das Folgezeitwort (a) nahezu immer aktiv sein und (b) ist im Regelfall "are" oder "should". "To Mention" (und "are mentioned" sowieso) passen hier selten-nie. D.h. "According to Griffin/Ebert there are four types of utility, namely time, place, ownership and form." 3) Nach "contribute to..." müssen die verbundenen Zeitwörter im Gerund formuliert werden.

"exists if";)

Exercise 1

The report deals with general services offered by commercial banks. The paper is divided into two sections. After explaining the term “commercial banks” the author will present the services offered by these financial institutions. First, it’s of particular importance to point out that commercial banks are companies that accept deposits that they use to make loans and earn profits. In this context you can see that accepting deposits and granting loans are the two general services offered by commercial banks.

Exercise 2

The report shows international organizational structures which companies can adopt when going abroad. According to Griffin/Ebert there are five different methods which are of particular importance. In order to adopt the right strategy the level of international involvement has to be considered. Firstly, there is the possibility of hiring an independent agent. An independent agent is a foreign individual or organization that represents an exporter in foreign markets and often acts as sales representative. Secondly, companies with more involvement in foreign countries can make licensing arrangements like franchising. Another possibility would be setting up branch offices. In this case a company may send its own managers to overseas branch offices. Furthermore, a company could find a partner in the country in which it wants to do business. This is known as a strategic alliance and in this way companies could benefit from the knowledge and expertise of foreign partners. Finally, there is the possibility to make foreign direct investment (FDI). FDI involves buying or establishing assets in another country.

Exercise 3

The report deals with the importance of informal organization. After explaining the term “informal organization” the author will point out the various aspects of this organization structure. In this context he will also take a look at the term “grapevine”. To start with, the author mentions that in reality all companies have two dimensions. On the one hand, there is the formal organization and on the other hand, there is the informal organization. An informal organization is a structure within which people do there jobs in different ways and interact with other people in ways that do not follow formal lines of communication. Informal organization effectively alters a company’s formal structure and is sometimes just as powerful as the formal structure. On the other hand there could also arise problems, for example, when informal organization is highlighting false information. In the context with informal organization the author points out the term “grapevine”. The grapevine is an informal communication network that can run through an entire organization. Moreover it’s important to mention that because the grapevine typically passes information orally, such information often becomes distorted in the process.

Many companies rely on proven tools to manage quality. The author will focus in this report on statistical process controll. This tool refers to methods by which employees can gather data and analyze variations in production activities to determine needed adjustments. In detail, the most important methods are process variations and control charts. The former means variation in products arising from changes in production inputs. Information concerning such variation can be obtained from a process capability study.
The second method mentioned above is for controlling purposes. Applying this method employees check production and plot results on a control chart.

Statistical process control is one tool for total quality management that is expressed in Griffin/Ebert. According to Griffin/Ebert, SPC (that's the abbreviation for statistical process control) refers to methods by which employees can gather data and analyze variations in production activities in order to determine needed adjustments. Additionally, the two most common SPC methods are process variation studies and control charts. The former one measures variations in a firm's products that arise from changes in inputs used in the production process. The latter one is a method where employees can check production periodically and plot the results on such control charts in order to find variances as early as possible.

Additionaly, there is the place utility which makes goods available where the consumers want them. Thirdly, you have to mention the ownership utility that means, that the consumers are allowed to be the owner of the product. In the end, there is the form utility. This type of utility is the process of turning raw materials into goods or performing service.

How can production create value? The report deals with the utility of products. The author states that utility is a product’s ability to satisfy a human want. According to Griffin/Ebert, there are four types of utility, namely time utility, place utility, ownership utility, and form utility. Firstly, it provides time utility by making products available when consumers want them. Secondly, it offers form utility by converting raw materials and human skills into finished goods and services. In Addition, it provides ownership utility because the product allows the consumer to own it. In regard to this, it is important for the company to know that ownership utility might also be called possession utility. In conclusion, place utility allows to make products available where consumers want them.

"Mention" geht eher in Richtung "periphär erwähnen"- hier passt "discuss" besser.
4)"One of these" ist wesentlich moderner als "One therof"
7)
"Firstly, the process variations study, ..." Achtung!
8)
"which means that..." Achtung!

Bravo- keinerlei Grammatikfehler
(First, the author will... Then, she will...) Auch hier wäre "The report"/"The paper" eine ebenbürtige Alternative.
