Re: report - line graph
Original

In today’s world, it is very important to have the write product fort he consumers and to have this product in the production for a long time.
The following report will discuss developing new products at Austrian pharmaceutical company Pille AG. In particular, it will look at how Pille AG will be able to develop an effective product policy.
The report is structured along the following line. Firstly, the report gives you an overview of how to introduce a new product or update the existing product on the market. Next, it will analyse the two brand types “national brands” and “licensed brands”. This is followed by describing the development of the existing product “Vitamin All” which contributed by 70% of Pille’s turnover. Subsequently, it will consider an analysis of the Austrian consumer demand for Influenza-Shots.

The following theoretical content is relevant for that problem, because Pille does not know which way is better to offer a new product or to update the existing product.
A group of products that a company makes available for sale defines the “product mix”. A part of “product mix” is “product line”. “Product line” is a group of products that are closely related, because overtime the companies find that their initial product fails to suit every consumer. Therefore, they introduce similar products in different various. For Pille AG the “product line” would be the best solution.
The next question is how can you identify a product? The consumers recognize the product in the way by remembering its name or its logo. Now, the author will define the types of brand names. Firstly, national brands are produced by and carry the name of manufacturer. The second brand names licensed brand. The manufacturer sells their right to another company and this firm can use their names on products.

Now, this theoretical knowledge should be put in the proper professional context. The line graph illustrates the development of Austrian consumer demand for influenza-shots over the last ten years, with the consumer demand in percent of the Austrian population shown on the vertical axis and time on the horizontal axis. At the beginning of 1997 the consumer demand increase to 13% in 2001. In the following year, it crashed to 9 %. This was a result of the weather reproof because it was not extremely cold and the consumers need not drink any medical products. From the end of august, the demand rose again and reached the peak at 13.5 % in 2005. This can be traced back to the fact that it was extremely cold and the people avoid the illness by using medical products like “Vitamin All”.
However, in the last years the demand falls because new products are set on the market and the product life cycle is limited. In summery, therefore, the graph shows a turbulent, positive development.
To conclude, the author would suggest introducing a new product line on the market. These measures seem to be appropriate in order to increase the turnover and do not make loses.

In today’s world, it is very important to offer the right/appropriate product to consumers and to make sure that this product will be produced/manufactured for a long time.
The following report will discuss the development of a new product at Austrian pharmaceutical company Pille AG. In particular, it will look at how Pille AG will be able to develop an effective product policy. This is of particular importance because studies show that its main product "Vitamin All" will become obsolete in a few years.

The report is structured along the following lines. Firstly, the report gives (you) an overview of how to introduce a new product or relaunch an existing product on the market. Next, it will analyse the two brand types “national brands” and “licensed brands”. This will be followed by a de*****ion of how “Vitamin All” can be modified. Subsequently, it will consider an analysis of the Austrian consumer demand for influenza-Shots.

The following theoretical content is relevant for the problems discussed above. This is because Pille does not know whether it is better to offer a new product or to update the existing product.

A group of products that a company makes available for sale defines the “product mix”. A part of a company's product mix is the product line. A Product line is a group of products that are closely related, because the related products either target the same consumer group or fulfill similar needs. ___. For Pille AG, offering various product lines would be the best solution.

The next question is how to identify a product. The consumers recognize a product ___ by remembering its name or its logo. Both cases are examples of branding. Now, the author will define two types of brands. Firstly, national brands are produced by and carry the name of the manufacturer. This means that they are sold under the same brand everywhere in the world (e.g. IBM). The second type of brand is a licensed brand. In the case of a licensed brand, the manufacturer leases their brand rights to another company and this firm can use the brand names on products.

Now, this theoretical knowledge should be put in the proper professional context. The line graph provided by WIFO illustrates the development of Austrian consumer demand for influenza-shots over the last ten years, with the consumer demand in percent of the Austrian population shown on the vertical axis and time on the horizontal axis. ___ Consumer demand increased to 13% in 2001. In the following year, it crashed to 9 %. This was a result of the weather ___ because it was not extremely cold and the consumers did not have to consume/ingest any medical products. From the end of August onwards, __ demand rose again and reached its/a peak at 13.5 % in 2005. This can be traced back to the fact that it was extremely cold and __ people avoided __ illnesses by using medical products like “Vitamin All”. In summary, therefore, the graph shows a turbulent, positive development.

However, in the last years, ___ demand has fallen because new products were introduced to the market and the product life cycle of Vitamin All is limited. ____

To conclude, the author would suggest introducing a new product line on the market. This measure seems to be appropriate in order to increase the turnover and will not generate losses.

1) "The following report will discuss developing new products at Austrian pharmaceutical company Pille AG.": "Developing" passt hier nicht.

2) "This will be followed by describing ": Hier wieder ein ähnlicher Fehler.

3) "because Pille does not know which way is better to offer a new product or to update the existing product. ": nicht wissen, ob Handlung A oder Handlung B besser ist, schreibt man "does not whether it is better to A or to B."

4) "Therefore, they introduce similar products in different various. ": "various" bedeutet "verschiedene", d.h. muss nacher immer ein Hauptwort folgen.

5) "The next question is how can you identify a product?": Achtung bei so etwas. Als Faustregel: lass "you" oder andere Addressaten aus und arbeit mit "how to", "when to", "where to", "why".

7) "At the beginning of 1997 the consumer demand increase to 13% in 2001.": Das ergibt keinen Sinn.

Verwende "X did not INFINITIVE".

9) "therefore, the graph shows a turbulent, positive development.": Diesen Satz muss man VOR Deinem vorigen (der ja stark negativ ist) setzen, sonst passt das logisch nicht zusammen.

Doing business internationally has become a common practice in business life. More and more companies decide to expand their markets by going international. Starkbaum Gmbh has already gained some experience in international trade by exporting its products to foreign markets. Now the firm wants to get a foothold on the New Zealand market for machinery but is worried about possible trade barriers.
The author will attempt to point out the main issues Starkbaum will have to consider when the firm expands its market to New Zealand.

This report will address these issues in the following manner.
Firstly, the author is going to briefly define the term “ globalization”. In this context the report will discuss the main advantages and disadvantages of globalization. Next, the author wants to present various organizational structures a firm can implement if it wants to operate internationally. Finally, this report will give a recommendation for which structure should be chosen in case of trade barriers.

The term “globalization” has gained a crucial importance in business. Globalization is defined as the process by which the world economy is becoming an interdependent economic system. In this context companies are now able to operate on different markets and consumers have the chance to choose from a greater variety of goods. In contrast globalization can also lead to the exploitation of cheap labour in less developed countries and the loss of a nation’s cultural identity.

Now the author wants to present organizational structures through which to improve international business operations. In this context the author wants briefly describe the concept of a strategic alliance. A strategic alliance refers to a partnership with a foreign partner to found a new business together. A License agreement is another option to do business abroad. In this regard a firm chooses a foreign partner who produces or markets their products in another country. The author also wants to mention the method of a foreign direct investment to enter new markets. A FDI is characterised as the purchase of assets such as a factory abroad. Last but not least companies can also set up a branch office in a foreign destination to administer its business operations on the foreign market.

Now this theoretical knowledge must be put in a professional context.

Starkbaum Gmbh intents to sell its machines in New Zealand, but fears the implementation of tariffs or quotas. Considering the implementation of trade barriers the author suggests for Starkbaum to look for a partner in New Zealand. As a domestic New Zealand company produces all the products, trade barriers do not have to be considered. Nevertheless it is crucial for the company to set up frequently conducted quality controls.
A foreign direct investment presents a further option for Starkbaum. The purchase of a factory in New Zealand can also fight the threat of possible trade barriers.

In conclusion business in New Zealand is challenging but nothing Starkbaum could not cope with. Admittedly the step to expand to New Zealand requires a lot of commitment and bears the risk of trade barriers. Yet the strategies presented above and the company’s experience in international trade should help to successful enter New Zealand’s market for machinery.

Solide Arbeit - schnörkellos aufgebaut, wenig Überraschungen, dafür aber wenig Fehler.

1) "has gained a crucial importance": würde man so nicht sagen. Sehr gut passt die Phrase "to gain in importance", allerdings passt da "crucial" nicht allzu gut dazu. D.h. würde ich empfehlen "has become crucially important".

Re: Pille AG

In this current day and age globalization makes the world smaller and the competition greater. Therefore it is essential for companies to develop and maintain a solid product mix.

The following report will discuss opportunities for the Austrian pharmaceutical company Pille AG to renew its product portfolio. The Focus will be on strategies of rejuvenating its present core product "Vitamin All" and future market trends in order to guarantee Pille AG future earnings.

The report is structured along the following lines. Firstly, it will give a definition of the terms "product mix" and product line. Secondly, general information on the importance of brands for a company and the differences between "licensed brands" and "national brands" will be given. Following this, the report will concentrate on the Austrian Consumer Demand for Influenza-Shots between 1997 and 2007. As research has shown that Pille AG´s "Vitamin All", presently generating 70% of its turnover, is at the end of its product life span the report concludes with a suggestion for how to improve Pille AGs product mix.

In order to develop a proper solution for Pille AG it is crucial to understand the related theoretical background. A company's product mix consists of all of its products offered for sale including its product lines and categories. Due to the fact that it take years to invent a new drug it is exceedingly important in the pharmaceutical industry that the product mix is balanced. In contrast to this the term product line refers to a particular group of related products.

A Brand is word, symbol or picture appropriate to identify a product or manufacturer. One can distinguish between "licensed brand" and "national brand". Licensed brands are owned by company which sells the right to use the brand to other companies whereas national brand are produced and widely distributed by a certain producer. A good example for a national brand is "BMW".

The Austrian Consumer Demand for Influenza-Shots is depending on the individual characteristics of the flue in each year. Following a line graph on influenza shots the demand shoot up in 2000 just to plunge in 2001. This plunge can be tracked back to several incidents connected with the shots. After these incidents the serum became safer and therefore the demand rocketed up again in 2005. The line graph also provides information about the recent up trend for influenza –shots. Accordingly, Pille AG should concentrate on developing influenza medication or influenza shots to enter this market as soon as possible

In conclusion Pille AG should put its efforts in developing new products - particularly for influenza - in order to enlarge its product rage. As influenza is a permanent annual sickness the demand for influenza-shots will slow down in the near future this market segment is exceptionally interesting. In the meantime the management should concentrate on developing a new marketing concept for its present products. Such a renewal can affect a longer life-span and through this ensure revenues.

1) "The focus will be on strategies rejuvenating its present core product "Vitamin All" and future market trends in order to guarantee Pille AG future earnings."

2) "As research has shown that Pille AG´s "Vitamin All", presently generating 70% of its turnover, is at the end of its product life span the report concludes with a suggestion for how to improve Pille AGs product mix."

4) "As influenza is a permanent annual sickness the demand for influenza-shots will slow down in the near future this market segment is exceptionally interesting."

In these fast moving times it is essential to have an organisational structure which is able to react in time to all kinds of market demands. As we know the clout and the number of competitors in the telecommunication market is increasing, it is important to have clear hierarchical structures. This letter aims to analyze in detail the affects of organizational structures and the advantages of a clear authority.

Firstly, this report is going to explain the concept of three classic forms of authority in a company. Thereafter it will discuss one basic form of organizational structure, the divisional organizational structure. Subsequently, the author will give a suggestion for how Bundnetz AG could restructure its organization in order to achieve a higher level of efficiency within twelve month.

In order to understand the significance of authority, it is important to consider the three classic forms of authority, line authority, staff authority and team or committees authority.
Organizational structure in which authority flows in a direct chain of command from the top of the company to the bottom is called line authority.
Staff authority is based on expertise that usually involves counselling and advising line managers. Committee and team authority may consist of top managers from several major areas. The teams or committees authority play central roles in the firm’s daily operations.

These authorities play different roles in different organizational structures. The author will now focus on a divisional organizational structure. According to Ebert/Griffin a divisional structure relies on product departmentalization. In the case of a divisional organizational structure, firm organizes itself around product-based divisions. They are free to buy, sell, create, and disband divisions without disrupting the rest of their operations.

The problem of Bundnetz AG is the following it is a formerly state-owned and overstaffed telecommunication provider with no identifiable hierarchical structures. First of all Bundnetz AG might effectively improve its situation by implementing an appropriate divisional organizational structure. This would involve specifying the jobs to be done. Second the new divisions would need to be created along Bundnetz AG`s main lines of business, such as “fixed telecommunication” or “data transfer”.
As a result of this divisional organizational structure, job redundancies might be reduced and chains of command as well as job descriptions would be improved. Further, each division would become accountable, resulting in high cost of performance transparency. By taking these steps, Bundnetz AG should be able to improve its level of efficiency within a maximum of twelve months. Finally the increased transparency could supply Bundnetz AG with valuable data, which might become the fundament for future improvements, leading to a bright and wealthy future.

This new organizational structure would solve Bundentz AG`s problems. By implementing a new organizational structure, management should bear in mind that change management should always guarantee clear and open communication to improve staff motivation. The communication can start with a presentation of the new vision and the connected needs for change, and then employees might be capable of implementing new directives more easily.

Re: Q4 - Bundnetz AG
Original:
A clear organizational structure is the essential of every successful company. However, the implementation and maintaining of such an organizational structure is not as easy as it seem and may be change several times over an “organization’s life”. The following report discusses the issue of Bundnetz AG, an Austrian telecommunications provider and its problems that it is overstaffed and no identifiable hierarchical structures exist.

First, the report will cover a brief discussion of the three classic forms of authority. Subsequently, the author will explain what a divisional organizational structure is. Finally, she will suggest how Bundnetz could restructure its organization.

Bundnetz AG’s situation is that no identifiable hierarchies exist. Best approach to implement a new organizational structure is to start discussing the classic forms of authority. Line authority flows directly from the top of the company to the bottom and is implemented in form of a line department. This is directly linked to the production and sales of a particular product. Moreover, staff authority is another classic form which is based on advising and counseling managers. Staff members – insider of the staff authority department – do not have any authority to make final decisions. Examples for staff authority are law, accounting and human resources departments. Last but not least, another very common form of authority is the committee and team authority. This is granted to teams who are assigned to plan and organize their work by themselves with hardly any supervision.

An extremely established form of organizational structure in today’s organizations is the divisional structure. This structure is characterized by several divisions – departments which produce and market its own products like a separate business – which act autonomous under the wide span of the corporate organization. The divisional structure is a common method for businesses which are specialized in producing more that one product since for each product a department would be set up and this department would work self-governed.

In any case, the author would suggest taking the following steps for restructuring Bundnetz AG’s organization. First of all, the management must determine who will do what. This is also called specialization. Thereafter, it has to determine which people could be best grouped due to the fact that they are performing related tasks. The so-called departmentalization fosters time and cost savings. Finally, it must establish a decision-making hierarchy which should illustrate who will be empowered to make which decisions and who will have authority over others.

In conclusion, the author wants to highlight that due to today’s fast communicating and changing business world it is essential that every firm has a precise organizational structure which had to be readjusted at least once a year. Furthermore, the designed strategy should be communicated to all levels of management to show the importance of these new measures. The divisional structure is not the easiest form of basic organizational structures but in the case of numerous products the most efficient one.

Though you've obviously put a lot of effort into this answer, I'm afraid it would be negative overall. Unfortunately, there are some content issues as well as numerous grammar problems.

Content issues to work on:

Try limiting your broad statements a bit Ð is line authority ALWAYS associated with production and sales of a product, or really just OFTEN?

Some explanations need additional explaining - staff authority, for example. What is a "staff authority department" and what do you mean when you say they "don't have authority to make final decisions"? Explain who DOES, then.

The basic idea of your suggestion is solid, but there are several weak areas: why perform specialization? Give an example of departmentalization - are you talking about functional depts like a marketing dept?

Why readjust the structure at least once a year? This seems drastic, to say the least. Which strategy are you communicating? It's a bit unclear.

1) "it seem" Ð forgetting the third person "s" is a serious error

2) "may be change" use the past tense in passive constructions (this happened a few times)

3) situation: here "main problem" works better (compare with "Ricky's situation is that he is broke." It's a style issue.

4)"Best approach": THE best approach

5) "implemented in the form of a line department": the issue here is that a plan or strategy, etc. may be implemented, which means "put into action". Therefore I can't really implement line authority in the form of a line department. You could try "exhibited" or "takes the form" instead.

6) "Moreover" means additionally. If you're not adding to the point made in the previous sentence, but moving to a new topic, as here, it would be better to just say "another form ..."

7)example OF

8) Legal Department, etc.: Use capital letters whenever it's a proper name, as here. Compare "Many marketing departments are badly run." with "The Marketing Department (of our company) is badly run."

9)"the committee and team authority" ; "the divisional structure": watch out for overuse of "the". Anytime you are using a term in a "general" rather than a "specific" sense, which is most of the time, leave off the "the".

10)"divisional structure is a common method": HAVING or IMPLEMENTING a structure can be a method, but not the structure itself.

11)"fosters savings": Although foster is a great business terms, remember that it means "to help grow or develop"; here "would result in" or would lead to" is preferable. Notice that the conditional "would" signifies that we are talking about a hypothetical situation.

I hope this helps, keep at it and I'm sure you'll make some progress!

Re: Business report 4
Original

Organizational structures are of increasing significance in the modern business environment. This will be shown by means of the situation of the Austrian telecommunications provider Bundnetz AG. The company is currently overstaffed and there are no identifiable hierarchical structures. This report aims to find possible solution for implementing a new organisational structure.

The report is structured along the following lines. First, the report will discuss the three classic forms of authority in a company. Subsequently, the text will explain a divisional organizational structure. Finally the author will give some potential solutions for how Bundnetz could restructure its organization in order to achieve a higher level of efficiency within twelve month.

In order to find possible solutions for Bundnetz AG it is necessary to understand the related theoretical fundament. This includes a proper understanding of the three classic forms of authority, namely line authority, staff authority and team authority. Line authority is an organisational structure in which authority flows in a direct chain of command from the top of the company to the bottom. Staff authority is based on expertise that usually involves counselling and advising. If authority is granted to teams involved in a firm’s daily operation, this is called team authority.
Additionally, it is useful to consider what a divisional organizational structure is. The firm organizes itself around product based divisions, each be managed as a separate enterprise. The company is able to evaluate the performance of each division independently. This leads to the question of how this theoretical information can be applied in the case of Bundnetz AG.

The situation of Bundnetz AG is the following. First of all, the formerly state-owned Austrian telecommunications provider Bundnetz AG is currently overstaffed and there are no identifiable hierarchical structures. Therefore, the author will give a suggestion for how Bundnetz could restructure its organisation in order to achieve a higher level of efficiency within twelve months. First of all the company must identify the specific jobs that need to be done and designate people who will perform them. This process is called specialization. The advantages of specialization are the following. Specialized jobs can be performed more efficiently and workers can develop real expertise in their jobs. Following this they must be grouped into logical units, which is the process of departmentalisation. An example would be functional departmentalisation. Departmentalisation allows the firm to treat a department as a profit center. This means a separate company unit responsible for the units own costs and profits. Finally an establishment of a decision making hierarchy is necessary. Therefore, the company must decide who will have authority over whom. The three forms are line authority, staff authority and team authority.
Another option would be to diagram the structure of Bundnetz AG and showing employees where they fit into its operation with the help of an organization chart.

In conclusion, Bundnetz Ag’s situation is challenging but not hopeless. If the firm is able to implement a new organizational structure, they might be able to handle the currently overstaffed situation.

Overall: very decent, acceptable answer!

Style issue:
"The situation of Bundnetz AG is the following."
"The advantages of specialization are the following. "
Instead of overusing this construction, try "The advantages of ... include...", etc.

1) "This report aims to find possible solution for implementing a new organisational structure." Notice that a solution to this problem involves implementing an or. structure, i.e. the implementation is part of the solution, not part of the problem.

2) fundament is a false friend! (basis or foundation is preferable)

3) style issue: "apply to"

4) big issue: "month" months takes "s" in the plural!
NOTE FOR EVERYONE: simliar cases of "s" plural:

managerS ; insiderS ; partnerS ; brokerS

notice that the Germanisized versions of these English words don't take "s" plurals - this is where the mix-up occurs.

International business is challenging. In order to defy competition, managers need to have an understanding of the possible opportunities and threats resulting from globalization.

Starkbaum GmbH, a medium-sized machinery exporter, has recently decided to begin exporting its products to New Zealand but is worried about potential trade barriers. This report will discuss some options trough which to successfully enter the new market and is structured along the following lines.

First, the author will give a brief definition of the term “globalization”. When doing so, she will take a close look at advantages and disadvantages resulting from globalization. In the following, the report will discuss four international organizational structures a company can decide between when going abroad. In this context, the report will focus on “independent agents”, “licensing arrangements”, “branch offices” and “strategic alliances”. Finally, the author suggests what international organizational structure Starkbaum GmbH should use.

Globalization is a force that increasingly touches our business lifes. According to Ebert/Griffin, globalization can be defined as the process by which the world economy is becoming a single interdependent system. As a result, both consumers and companies benefit from the increasing diversity of products at more competitive prices. Opened borders and cross-border cooperation enable companies to be successful in foreign countries. In spite of these advantages, certain drawbacks must also be considered. Due to the increasing number of suppliers, many companies have difficulties in remaining competitive. Furthermore, globalization allows companies to bypass tax regulations resulting in dumping prices.

When going abroad, a company can decide between different international structures. First, the company has the possibility to benefit from the knowledge of a foreign individual of organization that represents a company in a foreign country. Such a person, called independent agent, often act as a sales representative. If the foreign party should be involved more, the company could make use of a licensing arrangement. In this case, the firm gives a foreign organization an exclusive right to manufacture or market its products abroad. Another option would be to set up a branch office through which to furnish a more visible public presence. Finally, the company could find a partner in the country in which it wants to do business. In a strategic alliance, each party agrees to cooperate in some mutually beneficial way.

This leads to the question of how the theoretical concepts can be applied in case of Starkbaum GmbH. In case that New Zealand has implemented quotas and tariffs, the author would recommend for Starkbaum GmbH to opt for a strategic alliance through which to bypass the implemented trade barriers. In comparison to the structures explained earlier, a strategic alliance gives Starkbaum GmbH more control over foreign activities and eases the way of starting a new business from scratch abroad.

To conclude, the author would recommend for Starkbaum GmbH to opt for a strategic alliance in order to successfully entering the New Zealand’s market. Admittedly, this approach encompasses certain drawbacks, such as divided profits and difficult decision-making. However, when considering that the cooperation with a foreign company would increase Starkbaum GmbH’s sales volume in New Zealand, this strategy appears to be by far more advantageous than the alternatives.

Is it enough to be successful in a single market to guarantee a company's ongoing? It might be enough but in the last decade international trading and worldwide expansion became more and more important for businesses. Exporting products into foreign markets is a great opportunity to grow as well as a challenging situation which can become a company's nemesis. Therefore it is important that Starkbaum GmbH, a medium-sized company, is well prepared for exporting machinery to New Zealand.

The report is structured along the following lines. First, the report will give a definition of the term “globalization” and discuss some of its advantages and disadvantages. Next, the report will provide an overview of possible international organizational structures. This is followed by an analysis of the favourable organizational structure for Starkbaum GmbH against the background of entering the New Zealand market.

In order to find the best solution for Starkbaum GmbH, it is necessary to understand the related theoretical background. Globalization can be described as a process by which the world becomes more and more unified lasting in a single society. This process is a combination of economic, technological, sociocultural and political forces. The term "globalization" is commonly used and thereby equally related to positive and negative feelings. The chances enhanced by globalisation include civil liberties as well as economic benefits such as lower prices, higher output and greater freedom for businesses. On the contrary the drastic deregulation can mislead to tremendous pollution and the migration of businesses to low cost countries.

Due to the ongoing process of globalization it is important to know possible international organizational structures. Therefore Starkbaum GmbH has the following organizational opportunities. A strategic alliance where it and a New Zealand partner company would operate together in the partner's country. In contrast a branch office is a small office separated from the company´s headquarters. As this is a very cost intensive commitment an independent agent (individual or specialized company) who sells your product for commission is one of the alternatives. Another option is a licensing agreement which would allow a alien company to sell Starkbaum GmbH´s machinery on the New Zealand market in return for compensation. As this is a strategic decision for Starkbaum GmbH´s future it is essential to bear in mind that New Zealand has imposed tariffs and quotas. Hence a strategic alliance would be the ideal organizational form trough which the effects of the above mentioned trade barriers can be reduced.

To conclude with the author would suggest Starkbaum GmbH to find a strategic partner in order to minimize the financial risk and simultaneously be prepared for the future. Due to special knowledge, already existing distribution channels and competent personnel, a partner within the same industry as Starkbaum GmbH would be preferable.

Inhaltlich bestens. Bezüglich Sprache geschehen Dir schon häufig Kleinfehler, aber Dein Schreibstil ist dafür ganz ausgezeichnet.

1) "expansion became more and more important for businesses. ": Da du Schreibst "in the last decade" (eigentlich "seit 10 Jahren") und das heute noch relevant ist, musst Du "have become" verwenden

2) "as a challenging situation which can become a company's nemesis.": Lässige Formulierung!

3) "it is important that Starkbaum GmbH, a medium-sized company, is well prepared": Vorsicht! Ich würde ohnehin eher für "it is important for X to be INFINITIVE" plädieren. Aber wenn Du lieber "that" verwendest, dann ist der Aufbau "it is important that X INFINITIVE": Hört sich bestimmt komisch an, ist aber grammatikalisch zwingend.

4) "becomes more and more unified lasting in a single society.": "unified lasting" ist nicht wirklich ein Begriff.

5) " The chances enhanced by globalisation ": "Chances" für "Möglichkeiten" ist zwar nicht falsch, aber "opportunities" ist wesentlich besser und kommt auch viel häufiger vor.

6) "A strategic alliance where it and a New Zealand partner company would operate together in the partner's country.": Vorsicht: Das ist kein vollständiger Satz sondern eine Phrase.

line graph report
Can a company survive in depending on just one product-line in the long run?
The Austrian pharmaceutical company Pille AG currently faces the problem that 70% of its turnover over the last ten years has resulted from just one good, namely the medical product “Vitamine All”. It turned out that this product has a limited life-span and Pille AG will have to replace it and find another cash cow.

This report will address the prevailing problem in the following manner. Firstly, it will provide explanations for the terms “product mix” and “product line”. Following this the report will go into detail about certain brand types which the company could implement. Thereafter, it will analyze the development of Austrian consumer demand for influenza shots between 1997 and 2007. Subsequently, the author will give a recommendation for a new product strategy which Pille AG could implement to solve its problem.

Before addressing the practical considerations it’s necessary to focus on some theoretical terms as a fundament. This includes a proper understanding of the terms “product mix” and “product line”. The term “product mix” refers to all products a company sells to its customers regardless if those are consumers or industries. The “product line” incorporates all products which can be grouped together because they function in a similar manner or sell to the same consumer.
Furthermore products can be divided into different brand types, for example “national brand” and “private brand”. A “national brand” refers to a product which is produced and distributed by a manufacture usually it’s the name of the producer. In contrast, the “private brand” is developed by a wholesaler or retailer and the manufacturer puts this brand on its products.

This theoretical fundament is of significant importance for Pille AG. To analyze the demand for new products the report is going to depict the development of the Austrian consumer demand for influence-shots. On the vertical axis the graph shows the percent of Austrian population and on the horizontal axis the years 1997 to 2007. In 2001 and 2005 the demand for influenza-shots reached its peak at a percentage of 13, due to outbreaks in several schools in Austria.
After reaching a peak in 2005 the number of influence-shots plummeted to nine percent in 2006. The reason for this development was bad publicity for pharmaceutical companies. Since 2007 the demand for shots is rising again. To conclude the graph shows a fluctuating demand for influence-shots and is currently increasing again.
Therefore, it would be a great opportunity for Pille AG to introduce a new influenza medication product. The company could focus on a second product line and enlarge its product mix by developing a range of medical products against influence. This would enable the company to distribute its turnover to several product lines and ensure constant revenues. Admittedly, this approach encompasses certain drawbacks. These are high research and development costs and the time pressure that the product reaches the marketplace before the next influenza crisis.

To conclude, the author would suggest for Pille AG to implement a new product strategy, which focus on a second product line to ensure steady revenues.

Gute Arbeit!

3)

4) "products can be divided into different brand types, for example national brand and private brand." Wenn Du eine Aufzählung (typischerweise nach "for example") machst, dann solltest Du die Beispiele entweder im Plural (", for example national brands and private brands") oder mit unbestimmten Artikel (", for example a national brand or a private brand") ansetzen.

5) " This is a product which is produced and distributed by a manufacturer usually it’s the name of the producer."

6) "Admittedly, this approach encompasses..." "Admittedly" passt immer gut ("Zugegeben"), aber es ist danach notwendig, ein Schlussargument in Deinem Sinn (z.B. "Nonetheless"/ "Trotzdem") zu formulieren - sonst hängt der Text irgendwie in der Luft.

corporate ethics
According to business experts, ethics in business are an essential key factor to be able to survive in the long run. Plauder GmbH currently faces a situation where its reputation with stakeholders is damaged due to a collusion scandal. As a result of this, the entire managment board has been dismissed. The main goal of this report is to offer solutions with which to improve the ethical behavior of Plauder GmbH's employees.

The report will discuss these issues in the following order. First, the report will give a definition of the term "corporate social responsibility". Following this, the author aims to compare tho terms, namely "collusion" and "price gouging". Finnaly, the report concludes with a few suggestions for Plauder GmbH how the new management board can improve ethical behavior among its employees.

Before adressing practical considerations, the theoretical basis must be taken into account. This includes a proper understanding of the term "corporate social responsibility". According to business experts, this term refers to the attempt of a business to balance its commitments to groups and individuals in its environment, including customers, investors, local communities and other businesses. These groups and individuals are also called "stakeholder". This means that they are directly affected by the practices of an organization and therefore have "a stake" in its performance. Furthermore, another point of interest must be taken into account. This incorporates a comparison of the terms "collusion" and "price gouging". Firstly, collusion can be defined as an illegal agreement between two or more companies to commit a wrongful act. One example for collusion would be price fixing. Secondly, price gouging occurs when companies respond to increased demand with overly steep price increases. One example for this would be, when residents are warned in the case of a catastrophe/hurricane and therefore stock up on food and in return retailsers take advanteage of this pattern and increase their prices.

How can this above theory be put to use in the case of Plauder GmbH to improve the ethical behavior of its employees? One potential solution immediately appears. Plauder GmbH could introduce written codes of ethics which announce how the entire organization behaves ethically in certain situations. This could be one possibility to make the whole company aware of the ethical standards in the organization. Another possible solution for Plauder GmbH would be to make use of ethic programs. In such programs the entire company would have the chance to participate. They would be reminded of the importance of ethical decision making and wuold receive information on the current laws and regulations which are especially important in their branch. Moreover, the new managment could make the employees aware of the existing ethical hotlines where they can get support if they worry about certain ethical decisions and where they can also report unethical behavior anonymously.

To conclude, the author would recommend for Plauder GmbH to introduce written codes of ethics. In the author's opinion this would be the best method to improve ethical behavior among the employees because with these codes employees would have a guideline for ethical behavior and due to this they would know how to behave best/ethical in certain situations.
